I am looking for some new tires and I was going to order 195/60-14's but I'm wondering if a 205/60-14 would fit? Or does a 205 require a wider rim?

 

How wide are your wheels now? Most 205s I believe require at least a 5.5" wheel.

 

I think that the stockers are 14x5 so I don't think that you could put a 205 wide tire. Just stick with the 195/60.

By the way, if you could put a 205 wide tire, the sidewall would have to be either 55 or 50. Your car would look ridiculous with 205/60/14's

 

205/50-14 would have a very skinny sidewall, and nobody makes a 205/55-14 aside from R-compound autocross tires. BTW, 205/50-15 is about the same overall diameter of 195/60-14.

There's a huge selection of not very impressive tires available in the stock 195/60-14 size. The only real performance tires available are the Yokohama AVS ES100 and Falken Azenis. There are some assorted all-season tires that are reasonable but not really impressive when it comes to sticking to dry pavement.

 

id say you go down 5 points every inch the rim goes up...ex. 14-205/55, 15-205-50, 16-205/45, 17-205/40....that sounds like it makes more sense right?

BFGoodrich put out a Traction T/A this year in a 195/60-14 and it has some really good reviews and actually the best all around for an all-season performance in an H speed rating so I believe that those are what I am going to order.
