Default head installation question

hello, i am putting my 18b 95 integra ls back togther.i am wondering ,can you install the intake plenim on the head,then set it on the block ,as one component? this would save time,and i wouldnt have to flock around with the underside nuts.i had the head rebuilt,and right now everything is off.i want to do it fsat.any suggestions?expirience?addive?

well i just did it, so you can.i dont think you could with a gsr intake plenum ,it is a different dimension.

You should be able to do it with the gsr too. As long as you have the motor out. In the car might be a little tricky.

I'm not sure if I understand exactly what you're asking but I got a little trick i use on head jobs in the shop, I pull the head bolts first and related parts until the head is free of the block, I get a helper to pull the head up and I put to wooden blocks in between the head and the block. Then I use the space I now have between the block and head to access the intake bolts that are hard to get to otherwise. Then i leave the intake and related parts in the car.
This trick saves alot of time..

the short block was in the car!the cams were off! if they were on you wouldnt have clearance for the head bolts.it saved a lot of time,during reassembly,after having the heads rebuilt.
