tie rod
anybody here have to put a new outer tie rod in yet? I know its not too common in the tegs but i have 86000 on a 95 ls and at higher speeds i'll get a little wobble comming from the front right. Just enough to annoy me - it'll get worse then go away etc. The balance checked out perfect - it wasn't off at all. Brand new tires on there too. The tie rod end though has a minimal amount of play .. do you think this could be causing it/ I'm thinking i'll have a new one put in there tomorrow - I had it aligned about 5 months ago at my work (sears) and its still under warranty so the whole deal will only cost me 70 dollars for the part, labor, and the alignment. I figure i can cough that up as long as it solves my problem. . thanks for any input
the tie rod is adjustable.
The tie rod screws on to the end of the steering rack. Adjusting the tie rod is how you adjust the toe on your car.
If the tie rod is "wobbling" then the adjustment nut on the back of the tie rod is loose. Although I can't see the tie rod wobbling with the adjusting nut being loose, cause it's screwed on.
Either way it's very easy to put on yourself, and I got mine from honda for $20 per side. New ball joints included
