It isnt "safer" under boost, it just makes more room for tuning error. 8.4 is ridiculously low.

Did you tell this vendor that you only plan on running 8PSI? Who is recommending 10.6?

10:1 is fine. 9.6 is fine. 9:1 is doable but youre losing power for no reason. Hes right...youre not losing a ridiculous amount, but why at all?

oooh how the tables have turned...the machine shop has the block, i have ARP rod bolts, AEBS head studs and the pistons are coming tomorow. Im having the machine shop do the bottom end assembly to ensure clearances and peace of mind...heres the update, i found a set of Eagle H-Beams for my car for 325 shipped to my door by Monday, which is when i would need them by, but i have to order them tomorrow before 3, is that a good price to you guys? and is it worth it if im only gonna run 8-12 psi? just looking for opinions, thanx again guys

If I were you I would get them. Thats just me...I'd love to run 10PSI, but Id also love to know I can crank it to 18 if I want to. May as well go all the way if youre going 9:1.

Just my opinion, but Ive said this a bunch of times before

yea im prolly gonna pick them up and just push the machine work back a few days, i figure that would be worth it down the line...i know they say 300 is "safe" with stock rods, but thats like 10psi, and i wanna tune for that eventually so might as well play it safe i guess...thanx

SHould have gone with a higher compression but since you already have the stuff just up the boost. Make up for the power loss by running a higher psi. What size turbo are you running?

Honda rods aren't weak on the VTEC engines, but you need to keep in mind that Eagle and Crower rods are ~ 20% lighter than the stock rods. That'll make a good deal of difference at 8000 RPMs.

yea i decided after the fact that a higher comp would have been better, but im shooting for 7-8psi this summer, then better/ugraded tunign and stuff for next year running 10-12 psi...i figure for the most part i made a wise decision, especially concidering i was just gonna go with LS pistons on the GSR rods
