i lost my keys to my car but i still have the red key but i was told by a friend that this key would mess up my car is this true

Go to the dealership with your registration, if you're that desperate. With proper documentation you should be able to get a new key w/o a problem...

 

if the key came with the car it should not mess it up. If you mean red key by valet key then you just cant open the glove box.

My key is grey and is for valet mode so they cannot open the glove box.

i beliv the vallet key also wont open the trunk

dude the car comes with two color keys. The black one with the red acura emblem and then the grey one with the red acura emblem. The grey is valet, and the black is the master. The grey will not mess up your car, it will just limit your accesss to certain things in the car like glove box and trunk. But i think all acuras that are 98+ have the latch under the trunk which allows you to open it when the door is unlocked.

 

these things are all true but in 2001 all acuras came with a 2 black keys with white acura emblems and a valet. also i think in 2000 they all had the imobilizer systems
