for some reason, when the key is out of the ignition and i open a door, the dash lights up and there is a blinking effect as well as a beeping noise. it's not the lights and it's not an open door. the noise goes on for about 20 seconds then turns off. whut is it and how do i stop it

 

What kind of alarm do you have?

 

do my knowledge ...none...and if it is...then it's a stupid alarm that doesn't do anything but make annoying chimes and lights up my dash for only 20 secs

 

You say it's not your lights & it's not an open door. But the 1st sentence of your post you say "when the key is out of the ignition and I open a door...". Do you mean that the "chime" is not the typical one you'd hear if you left the key in? Will the noise occur if the door is NOT opened (& you simply remove the key)?

"The dash lights up": I take it you're refering to the service indicator lights (check engine, SRS, battery, etc), and not the dashboard (instrument) lights. If this is the case, my 1st guess is you've got some build up of crud in the ignition key switch. I'd shoot into the key slot (this slot is not jammed open, is it?) some electrical parts cleaner. See if that helps. If this was the situation, it would be doing the chiming that you're describing, the same chime as if the door was open, or the seat belt was unfastened.

I had that for a while after I got my car but I found out what it is... ok so the cover that is under the steering wheel there is a litle button on the back... its between the gas and the brake you can stick your hand in there and hold it for 3 sec... I had to take my cover off and I found it... it worked for me.. try it!

 

its on the cover !!! on the other side tho!
somewhere were the red is... look for it...
