I noticed my Cold---to---Hot control slider is dim on the left side. How difficult is it to get behind that panel to inspect/change the bulb?

You gotta disconnect the slider cable underneath the glovebox, then the 2 screws behind the rear defrost and hazard buttons, then disconnect the 2 harnesses behind the climate control, then pull out the whole unit. To me, those 2 harnesses proved to be the hardest part because there is no slack in them, making it almost impossible to pull the harnesses apart, while fitting only ONE hand back there.

Putting it back together isnt that bad, except for reconnecting the slider cable, which will also have minimal slack.

Just be careful not to tug too hard on anything, as there are many things to break or bend.
