Default Buying a Skunk2 IM

I'm getting a skunk2 intake manifold for my 97 gsr for xmas. I am probably going to get it off of ebay. Can anyone here say that they have heard of someone buying a skunk2 IM and found out that it was a knockoff? Is there any way to tell if it is fake?

What do u think?

that one is real. the new aebs intake manifold does look similar to the skunk2 one, but there's webbing between the runners from the pics i've seen. may i recommend you not get it though.

Until you have a gnarly NA setup, a new IM is not really needed... And in fact could be a decent waste of money

Well my plans this spring are skunk2 stage 2 cams, skunk2 valvetrain, and eventually CTR pistons. Along with the IM I will be getting a jdm header and cat to go with my evo. I wasn't meaning to slap on a IM and leave it at that, its just the next step I am taking right now. Also a tb will be put on this year too, along with some other minor things

still the stock gsr manifold is a good design. have it ported and polished and you're good to go.

yes, but I don't really have the resources to do that. The skunk2 will give me the high air flow when vtec kicks in instead of after it. Once I have the bigger cams, that is what I am looking for.

the gsr's manifold gives a better, flatter torque curve. with the skunk2 im, you lose some in the bottom end but gain more in the top end. just something i wouldnt want to sacrifice.

ya I understand. I was thinking that perhaps the tb and a jayz would help the bottom end a little.
