Default Exhaust vs Header

Ok Here is the deal I need some opinions on what is better perfomance wise, I can either get a skunk2 full cat back, or I can get a Ceramic coated DC 4-2-1 Header. My friend is going to sell both of them to me for the same price 250.00 And there both brand new! Which one do you guys think is the better deal, Thanks alot

Seriously, they're most effective when used as complimenting parts... And for that price, I'd part with $500

$250 is about the market price for a DC header.

Of the two, I'd take the Skunk2 and buy a better header later.

If you dont mind asking, but whats wrong with a DC header?
I always thought those were top of the line headers (maybe its just me living in CA and knowing that they are CARB legal )

But really do other brands have better performance outputs?

when talking about the mass produced dc type headers the performance numbers are all usually the same if not very close. but headers in general there are way better brands.

I think im just going to get the skunk2, becaue I think I want a
4-1 header instead of the 4-2-1, I heard that they are alittle better, deos anyone know if this is true? Plus 250.00 for a skunk2 full cat back is a really good deal!!!

yes a 4-1 will be better for the top end than a 4-2-1

DC headers in general are alright. Their JDM style 4-1 is particularly good. Their 4-2-1, imho, is trash.

I'm not really a fan of the ceramic headers. I'm not sure why everyone calls them ceramic, seeing as they're made out of mild steel and have a ceramic coating. They can still rust pretty easily.

Also the skunk2 exhaust is pretty freakin loud, but I guess if you're interested in canister style exhausts then that's what you're going for.

If you really can afford only one thing for the time being I would go for the exhaust since even if you upgrade the header it will be flowing through the restrictive stock exhaust and not make much power.

That said, a really loud exhaust like the skunk2 on a car that's making close-to-stock power is kind of pointless since the noise is only there for its own sake rather than to make more power than a quieter exhaust.
