Default Help - 92 Integra LS starting problems............

I have a 92 LS teg that all the sudden died today. I was able to start it up but it would shake like crazy, sputter, and eventually die. Even if I had the pedal to the floor it would onlly rev to about 1200 rmps before it would die. I assume it is the fuel pump or a relaly because it was driving fine earlier. I recently had the belt changed. Sometimes at higher rpms I would notice the rpms jump around a bit because of the bearings in the distributor are a bit worked. Where should I start? Has anyone had this same problem?

1) Get a manual
2) Get any DTC (error codes) not all problems flash error codes
3) Test fuel pessure to confirm your theory.(Old Fuel Filter?)
4) A crank angle sensor or a faulty Map sensor can cause this kind of problem. Check if the sensors are within range(sometimes a sensor could be giving faulty information to the ecu which, inturn, results in a air fuel ratio(AFR) problem.
5) Check for a resticted exhaust

Ask me if you don't understand something.

I checked the fuel and its flowing fine. I unbolted the cat and it still didn't start. I checked the ecu and there were no codes. How do I go about testing these sensors and where do I find the crank angle sensor?

When you replaced the dist. cap and rotor did you use OEM? The reason I ask is that when I replaced both w/aftermarket it took about 6 months for those cheap, out of spec pieces to wipe out my distributor. I asked a guru who told me NEVER put aftermarket cap or rotor on these cars. When my distributor was dying the car behaved similarly to what you are describing.

Im almost sure the parts are oem and ordered from the acura dealership. How do I check the timing when the car won't start? How can I be sure it is the distributor?
