Default D15 into 91 Integra...possible?

My cousin recently purchased a 91 Integra LS with 140K...to her dismay, the following day the connecting rod blew right through the block. When I dropped the pan to see what was up, the previous owner knew exactly what would happen...See one of the connecting rods lacked a bearing...a proper bearing anyway...instead of paying not even 10 bucks to slap a new bearing in there, this cheapskate had to ghetto-rig it by cutting layers of aluminum cans to the right thickness and fabricating their own conn rod bearing... :fawk: **** that ****ing ****er. Yesterday i stumbled upon i believe an 86-88 CRX with a D15 that someone is just giving away. the motor runs and i'm wondering if it will drop right into the Integra and bolt right in....or will there be some custom fabricating involved? any input will be much appreciated.

You'll need D series mounts. it should fit since its a smaller SOHC engine. Pretty easy swap.

If it is from an 86 or 87, forget about it.

If it is from an 88, it would have to be from an HF or an Si. You might be able to to slap together a mixture of your stock mounts and 92-95 Civic mounts and somehow get it to fit. The mounts that would definately work would be from an 89-92 JDM Integra with a SOHC ZC, but don't count on finding a set of those any time soon.

If I where you, I'd look into getting another B18A block.

I have seen B18's for under 500. Check www.hmotorsonline.com

Get another B18, on top of the price to swap a D15(You will need a D series tranny to) you could just get a B18. Besides with a D15 it would be dangerously slow.

Yeah, for reference:

90-91 Integra B18A: 130hp
88-91 Civic/CRX Si: 105-108hp
88-91 CRX HF: 62hp

If you use a CRX HF 1.5L engine, you'd be lucky if the car would move itself.:chuckles: On top of that, the gearing sucks.

If it is from a DX or LX model, you have some rewiring to do.

I just remembered, if you can't find a shift linkage from a JDM 89-92 with the SOHC ZC, you'll have to have yours cut and rewelded. That swap is so much trouble, you shouldn't even be thinking about it.
