Ok so my stock muffler is all rusty and I'm looking for an aftermarket muffler.

I took a look mufflers on ebay and they all seem to be "no-name" piece of crap mufflers...

My questions are.

1) Is there any difference between the no-name mufflers and the real ones like (5zigen, apexi, greddy, tanabe etc...) ??

2) If there is no difference, where can I find a cheap bolt-on muffler? Don't say ebay because they're all weld-on and they're a pain in the ass to install.

3) How hard is it to install a bolt-on muffler? I have some hand-skills but no experience involving car parts.

I need some straight-forward answers. Thanks.

You would want to get an axleback, as that includes the piece of pipe that bolts to the b-pipe.

The muffler has a pipe welded to it, that connects to a larger piece of pipe in the exhaust system via flange. If you buy a muffler, you will need a shop to weld it onto your existing piping. Waste of time.

Just buy an axleback that is ready to bolt on and save yourself some hassle. If you cant afford a catback, and just want something to replace your rusty muffler, go for it. In terms of performance...its all pretty much negligible on a basic NA setup.

 

ok from your description, I would assume that this is an example of an axleback muffler, correct?

So where would I be able to buy an axleback muffler such as this one? And trust me, there aint any on ebay.
