Are there any simple upgrades?
Ok, I am new to car mods. I just bought a 1991 Integra RS. It has 165 KM, runs great. The engine is in great shape with no signs of leaky oil or any other fluids for that matter.
I want some simple but subtle horsepower upgrades for my car. I have been told cold air intake is a good start. The car has just had new exhaust installed before I bought it. Is there simple little things that I can do that will make a noticable difference? I want to keep my cost down to a min if possible until I can really spend a lot on the car in the summer.
Thanks

Welcome to HAN
Tires... the best damn bang-for-the-buck upgrade you can do... I'm not kidding... Get some nice tires that are suited for your situation (Like local weather and life/performance considerations) and you will be more happy than anything with nice tires...
I needed a lot of wet weather confidence with my car, with good dry performance and long longevity in mind, so I got myself some Dunlop Sport 5000A... what kind of needs do you have in your car?

Well, I want the car to be a little faster (of course), but again, I don't want to spend an arm and a leg. Are there any simple filters, additives, fluids that I should add right away?
Will intake make a diff with the year of my car? Are there any engine tweaks that can be done that won't hurt the engine, but when you drive it you can feel a difference? I am planning on slowing totally redeveloping my car into showroom quality, but I want to get the car up to a "close to mint" shape with the engine and interior.
I am planning on getting new all season tires (for our cold winters here in MANITOBA). Should I be getting different spark plugs and wires? Newer oil filters? I appologize for my lack of knowledge in this area, but I want simple quick solutions I guess.
Thanks again.

First thing you want to do before modifying a car is to make sure that all of your maintenance is taken care of. That means replacing all of your filters, lubricants, service items, etc. Once all that stuff is taken care of the simplest ways to gain some power are to get an intake, header and exhaust. Also with that old of a car the cat is probably clogged up a good bit so replacing it with a new high flow unit will free up some ponies.
As for tires, with the fact that you're in a really chilly climate I would reccomend getting a set of summer performance tires on some cheap wheels (nothing extravagant, like 15" wheels with 205/50-15 tires) and then mount some snow tires on your stock wheels. Otherwise if you're not looking to do some aggressive driving then you can go with all-season tires. My favorite all season tire is the Dunlop SP5000.

Duely noted. I already have an appointment to take the car into the shop and have a tune-up and all the fluids changed.
Do you know if these cars have a block heater? I couldn't find it anywhere under the rad area, to the left or right front anywhere.
