battery charging problems
i ahev a 94 integra gsr and starting yesterday whenever the car is at idle the battery light comes on. what does this mean? im pretty sure it means the battery isn't charging up but not sure. replaced teh battery already and it's not that but after turning the car off wouldn't start jumped it and if the car gets below 2000 rpm the tach stops wroking all electronics shut off and then the engine dies anyone know what this is i was thinking alternator but not sure any help is welcome
check fuses first.. then buy yourself a digital multimeter that measure VDC (direct current voltage just in case you didn't know
).
with the car off you should measure about 12 V+
with the car started and the alternator working correctly, you should measure from 13V+ to 14.5V+
if you measure this voltage, then your battery may not be holding charge.
if you don't measure this voltage, check the ground strap and grounding points on your engine and your battery. if that still doesn't do it, you'll have to take your alternator off and test it.. good luck

yea i just plugged the radar detector out fo teh wrx into it and it gave me a voltage reading of 11 while it was on took the car into our local mechanic were freinds with he took it out tested it and then replaced it got it all done 275
