Default JDM Type R Gauge Pod

We just installed a JDM Type R gauge pod in a 94 GSR. Everything works......except Gas Gauge (no movement) and ABS light is constantly lit. I'm hoping to avoid pulling it back out and having to match traces to see if the circuit sheet is different.

Anyone with some experience?

You may need to switch the guages from the new JDM cluster into your old USDM one.

I had to do that in my car...but reverse. THe cluster I got was from a 96 ITR and it would not work in my 00 GSR.

what year is your cluster

the cluster changed for usdm/jdm over the year...not the plugs but some of the internals of them

We're going to pull the JDM cluster this weekend and take a close look at the traces. I'm not sure what year it is, I'll have to check with my son-he was the buyer.

The wiring in the green plastic is different...I believe it changed in 1997 or 1998. Swapping the guages should do the trick. IT is a couple of clips to take the bezel off (carefull not to braek them) and then 3-4 screws for each guage. It should take about a 1/2 hour to switch...but take your time so as not to break anything.

If you change the guages, but keep the old wiring, do the gauges still read accuratly?.

ITR's redline is 10k, GSR's is 9K, and better yet the Speed on the JDM goes to 180km/h. the US one reads to 220km/h (?)

Yes they do. They are as acurate as your USDM ones. I tested mine to make sure with my buddy on the highway infront of me asking what speed he was going over our Nextels and my GSR still redlines at 8200.

Job done! We transferred the JDM-R gauges to the USDM panel and everything's functional. We also swapped 3 of the idiot light labels to make sure the door ajar and ABS lights were properly labeled in the JDM faceplate.

After comparing the wiring traces the fuel gauge lead was move two spots on the JDM circuit. I guess they must use it for more than one model.
