Default intake question? injen or AEM?

as wondering can any1 tell me the diffences between the two? i am looking at the AEM CAI or the injen RD. every1 i know pretty much have the AEM, but on carreview.com they said that injen gives u extra 10hp? is that true? and after looking at the injen pics, i guess there is no way to put a air by pass value in it? living in Maryland with all the rain and snow, air by pass value would give me a piece of mind when driving. well if there is anything i should know about the two, i would love to hear it. thanks again for your help or even just reading it.

I've heard that AEM is popular just b/c of marketing. I have an Injen SRI, but I can always get the extension. Although, yes the Injen RD is one long pipe and they don't use a bypass valve. My cousin is a rep for Injen, so he always hooks me up. I'm really not sure of dyno proven differences between the both though.

No dyno to see if there was any improvements in HP/TQ but I have an AEM CAI without the bypass and I like it. With just an intake you will not see a real noticeable difference but it is a good way to start.

Just an intake giving you 10hp:lmfao:

No intake will give you 10hp. That's bull.

Bypass valve, forget about it. It's marketing hype and usually falls apart anyway. The chances of you ever being even CLOSE to a situation where a bypass valve would be needed is slim to none. You have a better chance of one of the sharks at the Baltimore Aquarium jumping out and singing to you before eating you than needing a bypass valve.

Now, with that out of the way... AEM or Injen. I have an AEM CAI on my prelude. I'm in northern PA, no bypass valve here and never a problem. Injen are ok, from what I hear. But I'd rather go with the AEM, dyno proven to make the most HP/TQ of any air intake.

You could always just get the Injen Short Ram and get the extension. Just slap on the Short Ram pipe during the rainy season...

As for the bypass valve it will only work if you completely submerge the filter in water. Splashes from puddles and rain on your filter will not hurt the intake or your engine. So unless you plan on driving through large puddles (or let your girlfriend drive your car :lmao: ) the bypass valve is useless.
