Default GSR tranny

how can you tell if a tranny is a GSR tranny?

It's night out, so I'm not gonna go check to verify this, but on the front of the bell housing near where it mates with the engine, I do believe it says B18C1 or similar...

GSR transmissions are all S80 series. You'll see a sticker or plate that will have a serial number and it will start S80-#####-and so on.

no,..i was checking for a GSR tranny,..if the motor was a GSR than it would said b18c1 on the block

okay we both were wrong,..apparently both LS and GSR trannys both have the s80 code

yea i should've added that part. My LS has a Y80, while my friends SE has a S80 :dunno: i guess it just depends on things.

Wait, i thought the LS and GSR had the same tranny. Whats the difference?

LS
1st: 3.230
2nd: 1.900
3rd: 1.269
4th: 0.966
5th: 0.714
Final Drive: 4.266
Reverse: 3.000

GSR
1st: 3.230
2nd: 1.900
3rd: 1.360
4th: 1.034
5th: 0.787
Final Drive: 4.400
Reverse: 3.000

Wow... that's cute... I didn't know that the 4th gear in an LS tranny is by definition an overdrive gear! Amusing!
