Default K&N drop in filter....

Anyone have pic's or know's of a website that has pic's of the drop in k&n filter? Also I heard there was an article of a 30 doller k&n filter that with a little custom work will also become a drop in. Any one have the link? Thanks.

Where can you get a cone filter for $45? The only ones I've seen are for $80. I can get a new intake for $110, so I didn't think it was worth it. But if I can get a new filter for $45, that would be great.

Let me know where you found that so I can look for it here in OHIO!

You can get the direct drop in for $65 on-line. The difference between the drop in and the RU2820 is that you have to "modify" one end to get it to sit correctly in the stock box. As far as modifing goes, the link that I saw that showed how to do it is no longer working - with that being said, I simply got the direct drop in (E2427)........it works and fits well.

I got an RU-3130 a year & a half ago. Take your old filter, and cut the filter element off of its plastic base. What you need is that funky 30degree angle thing with the flange that fits into your air box. That plastic part extends maybe 1/2" inside of the filter element. The K&N fits onto that with a hose clamp, so don't gouge it up when you're taking off the filter element.

I used the 3130 by:
1. removed the stock filter element (paper and metal) from plastic flange
2. dremeled off remaining glue
3. installed new filter with hose-clamp for security

This show the basic DIY
http://www.derestricted.net/itr/myitr/ru3130/index.htm

Total cost: $35
