this started a few weeks ago. i got in the car and pulled the e-brake down and started driving then i noticed the brake light was on, i was like oh s**t cuz i thought i might have left it up a bit but it was all the way down. at the red light i pulled it up and then down. the light went a way for a few mins but then came back on. some times when i have to brake hard it will go away then come back on a few mins later. brake fluid is ok cuz i checked.

Two things set off that light - handbrake & brake fluid.

Unplug the wires to the brake fluid reservoir. If that makes the problem go away, then your float switch is bad. (Unless the fluid was actually low...)

Take off your console around the handbrake lever. There's a little switch down there. Maybe it's bracket is bent so the lever doesn't hit it properly?

If it's neither one of these, it might still be insulation worn thru anywhere on that wiring. That's gonna be a PITA to find...

EXACT same thing happened to me.

HOW TO FIX IT:
Open the hood and unscrew both brake fluid reservoirs. CAREFULLY clean the caps and around the top of the lids. Next, turn each cap/white plunger upside down and make sure its well lubricated with brake fluid. Carefully "dunk" each plunger in the brake fluid reservoirs before screwing them back into place.

FIXED.

Also, low brake fluid can be indicative of worn Pads. Check that out. :naughty:
