I'm running high output headlights and they've, after a several months, started melting my sockets to the point that one of them cuts in and out. Do they make high temp sockets? If so where can I get them?

 

they make replacement plugs called pigtails, i would just run stock powered headlights (sylvania silverstars)

in my experience over the years, the ones that seem to melt the sockets are just for looks

 

the same thing happens to me, using nokya blue bulbs. i try to use the higher temp socket but they still melt my socket. right now i am using silverstar because i am tired of burn out blubs and melted sockets.

 

im using the ultra high wattage 9004&05 j-spec replacements with the high temp socket things from autozone no less and they have been working just fine... i just like the ones o have better than the sylvania silverstars that my friend has on his 02 intrepid

 

I've posted this in the UltraBrightLights forum on our sponsor's page, but i'll post it here again. I found this little schematic from another forum for my HID's, and it works awesome.



Just take the ballasts out of the equation, and run the fuses directly to the positive side of the bulb harness that you make.

Make sure you use a decent gauge wire (no less than 18G, meaning not 20 or 22G wire), solder all your connections with heat shrink tubing, plastic wire loom to protect the wires, and so forth...
