since my timing belt went out...so did most of cylinder one well i have another head with around the same amount of miles on it and i want to replace it myself because shops are trying to charge between $400-$525 for it and i told them i already have the head, i just need install. they all tell me they need to do the timing belt again and yada yada btu i told them the timing belt doesnt even have like 2k on it yet! can anyone recommend help tips or instructions for making this job easier for me. also, how long will this take normally so i know how much time i need to lay out for this fun little project? :thumbup: thanks

 

What exactly is your problem with cylinder #1? No compression? Bent valves?

 

the dood at the shop said i bent my valves and therefore im only getting 25% compression from it. well i asked about replacing the bent valves and they said it'd be easier replacing the head so here i am with a head in my living room begging to get put on...

 

All i can really say is replace the head and the intake manifold together it took me about half a day to replace my head when i blew a head gasket on the belt if it isnt stretched i wouldnt mess with it and u might need another set of hands to replace the belt

 

just make sure you check and double check all the torque specs, make sure you torqued everything down right.... not really a difficult job, just work intensive

 

Yeah, it's simple. I would remove the intake mani and head as a combo. Then put the mani onto the new head, and drop it on.
