Default Help! Radio Reception

Help! I just replaced my power antenna with a black rubber Metra stationary antenna, however, the reception is horrible. The project was an easy install, but the end result is not what I expected. Any suggestions on how to get clear reception with my new antenna? Thanks!

All electrical connections were securely re-established upon installation of the new antenna?

Yes, there was only one connection to be made and it is secure. I can pick up some stations (elevator music) very clear, but others (the ones I listen to most) are full of static. I found that if I put my hand on the antenna that clears up the static somewhat....

It could be the type of antenna you bought. I'm not familiar with the brand, but are you sure it is top quality? Where did you buy it from?

I bought it from Autozone. It was the top quality that they sold. Do you recommend any other brands? Where to buy? Thanks for your feedback!

A popular conversion, and one which I have, is the Honda S2000 antenna.

I paid around $30 to buy a kit from this guy: b18c510@hotmail.com. Email him and see if he has any available.

That is a sharp antenna. Does he do the prework shown in the pics?

It comes dissassembled. It's actually very simple to install. I did use the help of another person to hold the assembly up inside the car while I screwed in the antenna from the outside.
