Honda
and the Japanese city of Saitama have signed an agreement to participate in the E-KIZUNA Project. E-KIZUNA is managed by the city in collaboration with numerous stakeholders and aims to help fight global warming through the popularization of electric vehicles.

In Saitama, Honda will test the urban ability of electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid autos and electric scooters. In addition, Honda says that it will construct and test its Smart Home System in Saitama in early 2012. This energy management system features several Honda-developed technologies, including a gas engine cogeneration unit and a solar power system.

The E-KIZUNA Project agreement details how Honda and the city of Saitama will attempt to promote the shared use of electric scooters and automobiles, encourage the commercial use of electric scooters and develop a variety of electric vehicles designed to meet citizens' needs.
