Default Speed limiter thingie...

ok, i cant find any good simple info on this, but i noticed my car topped out at about 115mph and around 4k rpm, it really didnt seem like it was even trying after that, i even went on a long downhill on the highway, and still it didnt top 115. just wonderin what exactly is causing this, and is there a way to take off the limiter?

Another issue i found doing my tests is that my car BBUZZZZES when around 100mph or when at high speeds with strong headwind, it sounds like a semi next to me honking. (its pretty loud) at first i thought it was the passenger wiper blade vibrating, so at around 100mph when it started i turned the wipers on, but did not stop the noise, and sounded like it was commin from under the dash inside the car.

any info is appreciated

About the speed limited, only aftermarket chips and piggyback ECUs will eliminate that. As for the buzzing, it could be a NUMBER of things. Try and have someone check your interior and dash while doing 100. And anyways, why are you doing 100 on normal driving? Not good...those who do 100 under normal conditions I always :madfawk:

I agree why do you need to go that fast? Unless you are at the road course I don't even see a reason unless you don't want ot see your next b'day.

Well, Japanese market ECUs have 112mph speed governers.

American market ECUs have no speed governer.

Either you have a swap with a Japanese ECU that won't let you go faster, or a weak factory engine that just plain won't go that fast.

my car will cut out at 120 everytime. not that the engine can't go faster, but that it won't. :dunno:

I have an automatic and in D4 it stops at 110 but when I throw it into D3 the rpm goes close to redline and i can make it go a lil past 120...after that it starts to redline and the needle bounces...

ok yall can stop telling me about "you shouldnt speed" and if you know, post help, if ya dont, i dont need/want dumb comments

i was doing a 100+ purely to see how fast it could go, it was around a thursday night on the highway about 3am, so almost NObody on the road, i felt it was as safe/open place as any to open it up and see what it could do, that is when i noticed the sound and just wanted to know what that could be. Not saying i drive 100+ every day or everywhere, it was a one time deal just to see what my car can do

and i know its not cuz it cant go faster, it just doesnt seem like it wants to.

Ha ha haa, I hit 100mph every time I go down the track. Until I need to bust out a 130mph 1/4, I'm not going to worry about the speed limiter.
