Hey guys I got a question. I just recieved my motor, its a B16A1 gen2 OBD1 version and cable tranny. It came with grey plugs, which means its its OBD1. I was wanting to know if I can use the wiring from a 92-93 Integra to get this swap gong in a 90 Honda Civic? I got a wrecked 92-93 Integra that was hit in the back, but the front end is still good with no motor. But the wiring is stil there. Has anybody done something like this?

 

Just out of curiosity, why did you choose a second gen B16 over a first gen? The first gen would have been an easier swap.

Do you mean you want to swap the inside wiring with the 92-92 'teg, as in convert your car to OBD-1?

 

No, its not a B16A2. Its a first gen B16A1, but its the OBD1 version of that year. The ones that have a creamy or white color plugs are OBD0. The one I got have grey plugs which means its OBD1. Yes, I want to switch the wiring of the 92-93 Integra to my 90 Civic. How would I do this type of swap?

 

B16A1 and B16A2 are not JDM engines. You are confusing me. Both the first and second generation B16A's were marked "B16A."

If you have an OBD-1 first gen B16 it probably came from a '92 Integra XSi. It is a very unusual and uncommon swap.

I would personally backdate the engine to OBD-0, it will make life a lot easier vs. swapping/reworking the chassis wiring. For best results, you could find a guy with a 92-93 Integra who wants a B16A swap but has an OBD-0 engine and trade your OBD-1 for his OBD-0 unit.

 

I would take the original OBD0 engine harness, and use it (cause it has the appropriate shock tower plugs) and mate OBD1 plugs, where you need to change to plug into the motor.

Then get an OBD0-OBD1 ecu conversion harness, and use the OBD1 ecu.

That's how I've done it.
