Default smelly exhaust

My 2000 gsr with 36,000 miles is about 3 weeks old now (since i bought it) when i do ANY hard driving(i mean anything over 5 seconds of 3/4 throttle) my exhaust stinks.

does this mean that the previous owner never hot-rodded and I am now "breaking the cat in"

i searched a previous thread that said i might be running lean and to check spark plugs, but this is a STOCK gsr in perfect condition that gets good gas milage. if there is something wrong with the motor it is not obvious.

thanks in advance

I have a friend who got an s2000, it had like a eggish smeel to it, he brought it to the dealer and was told it was the cat but nothing they could really do about it, to say the least it doesn't smell any more.

check the spark plugs...maybe you are running rich? what does it smell like, gas? maybe there is a leak in the exhaust, at the cat?

no, it doesnt smell like gas. it is definitly the cat. i have smelled it before in other cars that get driven hard(my friends camaro) but i feel that mine starts smelling for almost no reason at all.... like i said it doesnt take much to make it hot enough to smell.

just wondering if it is abnormal and permanent or will go away.
