Hey im new to all this but i have a 95 automatic civic ex and i have a friend who is selling his b18c1 motor w/ the tranny, ecu, and all. problem is is his car is a manual. what all would i have to do to do the swap and convert mine from auto to manual. will it be hard?

I suggest checking out www.hondaswap.com The people there are very mindful and very helpful. Theres a few people on there that have successfully done this conversion, but it isn't all that easy. You should do some heavy research before considering this swap/conversion, you need to know what your getting into first. Consider this, if you decide to do it, you might have an easier time swapping that hydro tranny for a cable tranny. Don't quote me on this, but think about it, if you have to install a clutch pedal your going to have to install a clutch reservoir and run hydrolic lines for your hydrolic clutch. Save yourself the head ache and go with a cable tranny they are much easier to do a full installation of rather than doing a full installation of a hydrolic system. I hope this sets you on the right path.

A friend of mine swapped a b18c motor into his civic ex and he's quick as hell. The entire swap cost him over $4,000 though, but he said it was well worth it. The other thing is, you might wanna do some more research on the ECU. My friend who has an OBD-1 failed emmissions because you need an OBD-2. He's gonna try using his civic ecu now so we'll see how that goes.

ok, heres what u need, i done two auto to manual conversions, one is 95 accord and the other is 97 civic.

-manual tranny
-clutch pedal assembly with master cylinder
-manual gas and brake pedal assembly(smaller brake pedal)
-the clutch mc hardline
-clutch slave cylinder
-clutch(pressure plate, disc, throw out bearing)
-flywheel with flywheel bolts(automatic ones r too short)
-shift linkage(might as well get bushings while ur at)
-shifter and knob
-gauge cluster with tach
-manual ecu
-place racing auto to manual tranny mount(helps bolt the manual
tranny up to the stock auto tranny mount location, unless you wanna do some cutting and welding)
-a bit of rewiring the stock auto harness to think that the car is in parked so it will allow you to start ur car.

that thinks thats it. the rewiring part is not hard, u will simply just tap some wires and reconnect them and its all at the automatic shifter box. alot of ppl will tell u to sell ur auto and buy a manual but if u have done so much to ur car, y not just go the extra mile and do it. u learn alot and its fun. hope that helps a bit.
