Default Question about Rear view camera and putting car in reverse

Hello
I have a camera that I would like to hook up for the rear view. My question how can i power it where when I put my car in Reverse the camera turns on and the screen turns on (since i'd like to run a seperate 4" screen for this)

IS this possible?

Definatly possible... you'll just want to run the power for the screen and camera from the reverse lights... if the car is an automatic Honda/Acura, you'll be able to find power for them in the center console at the base of the shifter... if its a manual, the easiest place is right at the tail lights... although, the wire can be found running to the back of the car, usually in the drivers kick panel area.

Other than that, its a pretty normal install.

if you remove the console part around the shifter, on the side of the shift lever plate you'll see some wirring, probably on the drivers side... with the key in the "ll" position, use a test light and see which wire is the reverse lights... the wire position should correspond with the position of the shifter. Once you open up the console, you'll see what i'm talking about.

are you sure about powering the camera from the light bulbs wires? i would use a relay and use that wire as some kind of turn on for the camera and monitor, then run another wire for the 12+ constant.

a camera and monitor wont draw enough power to worry about a relay.
