how difficult is it to replace a hood?
i need to replace a hood for my 2000 honda accord. should i save some cash and do it myself (purchase part over internet, get it painted at bodyshop) or should i just take it to a bodyshop?
i just wasn't sure if the hood is difficult to install/align correctly. i've replaced my front bumper before with some good directions. any help info would be appreciated.

it's really simple, the easiest thing to do to line it back up is make a reference point if possible on new hood and or bracket, but even if you dont or cant, you can center it up by eye then close hood and measure gap from right fender from hood and then vise versa on left side, there should only be 2 bolts per side holding the hood to the hinge, and should be 10mm heads
sweet! thanks for they reply.
you're in NC eh? want to give me a hand...j/k
i've actually got a couple of other things to work on too, so this will definitely save me some cash.
the board must have reset my posts back to zero...i swear i had a handful .

dont forget to get 2 friends. have them hold each side while you line it up and tighten. i lucked out i went to a honda wrecking yard found a hood for my 2000 accord coupe came off of one that got rear ended. $125 and they wanted $365 primered at the dealership. took me like 15 min to change mine
I had my wife give me a hand in removing and replacing the hood when I pulled my old motor and painted my engine bay before doing the swap.
Anyhow My wife and I were able to lift the hod into place with the hood hinges in the up position. We let the corners of the hood rest on the rubber pieces on the edge of the winshield cowl. With the corners resting, my wife stood in front of the car and held the hood up while I went around and put all four bolts in (not tight yet). With the bolts loosely in and still open, we brought it down just a bit and from the front of the car pushed it back towards the windshield. My wife held it in that position as I went around an tightened down just one bolt on each side. I then shut the hood just until it clicked but was not shut all the way so I could eye ball it and make sure it lined up... it did on the first try so I opened it again and tightened the remaining two bolts.
Honda's body panels and such are known for lining up really well with hardly any adjustment if at all so lining it up should not be a problem... that's where Honda's quality engineering and craftsmanship makes them so good.
