Default Anyone have problems with the electric lock on the hatch?

Per the Acura Integra Owners Manual I should be able to unlock the hatch by turning the key in the drivers door clockwise and holding it there for a few seconds. I hear the electric locks click, but I cannot open the hatch without using the key.

According to the manual, "If an unlocked hatch does not open, turn the master key clockwise past the unlock position. Open the hatch as you hold the key in that position.

If you need to use this procedure to open the hatch, your car may be developing a problem. Have the vehicle checked by your Acura dealer."

Has anyone else had this problem? Is a trip to the Acura dealer the necessary?

Sorry to bother y'all with such a boring/non-performance problem.

BTW, my Integra is a '99 GS. Don't know if that makes any difference.

And FWIW, when I was leaving the dealer after purchasing this car, the salesman opened the hatch without the key. Everytime I've tried since then it hasn't worked.

are you sure he didn't just pull the thing on the floor by the drivers seat?

The '99 Integra GS doesn't have a latch on the floor. The only thing on the floor is the fuel door release.

I have a 2001 GS and I have never seen anything like that. I will try it when I get home and let you know.

Wait I think... you don't mean the unlock lever under the hatch itself. If you place your hand under the "a little groove" you will feel a little lever, when you pull to one side (left or right) I can't remember, it should open.

Is that what you mean?

I have a 2000 GS and my latch will stick and sometimes just pop open on the road with the doors locked..... oh yeah..

I don't have a manual pull in the car to open the hatch like previous models did. Usually if I just unlock ALL the doors the hatch will unlock, but the black opener on the outside of the hatch will not work or will stick open, or when lock it will unlock itself and open while driving..... sucks

Hottie,

The little lever won't open my hatch. I think the electric lock isn't unlocking the hatch, otherwise that lever should open the thing without the key.

I have the same poblem with my 99 LS..To get the hatch open I have to stick the key in, turn it clockwise all the way and move the lever at the same time, then it will open...I haven't had time to fully investigate why my latch started doing this. If I find out more I'll let ya know.. lol

edit:
BTW..I think the poblem is with the plastic piece that catches the metal latch..Even with the car unlocked I can't open the hatch without doing the step above..Let me know if you find anything out.
