If you don't have a jack or equipment to lift your car do you just drive the two front tires up the curb? Or maybe the two wheels on one side on the curb? Which way is better? Is it safe to do it this way?

You can do it, as long as you can get under the car and have access to your drain plug and filter.

I'd think that you want the car somewhat level when draining the oil, so you get the most amount of oil out, but a little slant isn't going leave a ton due to the design of the pan (at least on my car).

I'd recommend forking out $50 and buying a nice jack and jack stands.

As long as you don't lower your car or add a body kit. There can be overhang clearence problems with ramps. Jackstands are best. But, worst case scenario - you can pick up a nice hydraulic jack from Sears for $30. That'll do the trick.

 

I drive till the wheels are at the edge of the driveway and pull the e-brake.

And I use ramps for my other car since its not lowered. The front bumper still kinda hits the ramps.

What's some area/spots that the jack/jack stand should be?

 

Open up your owner's manual and look inside there should be instructions on how and where to jack your car. Other wise

Front: there should be a area under the bumper you'll hafta wiggle your jack around to get to the right spot, but it should be towards the middle.

Rear: I usually just put it on the axel if i can get it that far, but since my car is low there is also another jack point near the rear bumper and you can put the jack there.

Jack stands:

on each side of the car if you look near the wheels (front and back) there should be a peice of metal...thats where you put the jack stands. Usually there is an arrow pointing down from your sideskirt that tells you exactly where its at.

Don't get under your car with just a jack holding it up. Scissors / hydraulic... doesn't matter. You want to have your car resting on something solid. Jack stands or ramps. Jacks can fail, and that's it for you! I use jack stands.
