Default KYB AGX / Comptech Springs (pics/review)

Hey guys...I've been running this setup for about a month now and I thought some of you might be interested in my $.02 in case you were considering the same setup.

The KYB AGX adjustable shocks are awesome. For $340, they are totally worth the money. With all shocks set at 1, it rides slightly stiffer than stock. On the other side...at 4 you feel every little bump and groove in the road, but the car is very responsive and the steering has a nice "tight" feel to it. I love being able to switch back and forth. I always have them on 1 when I drive on the highway to work on the weekdays for a comfortable ride. On the weekends, in the city, I adjust them to 3/4. Overall, I rate the shocks at 9/10.

The Comptech Sport springs work great with the AGX shocks. They are noticeably stiffer than the stock springs. My only complaint is that the front end could be a little lower. After settling it looks to be about a 1.3" drop in the front and a 1.5" drop in the rear. I have 50 series tires so I think there is slightly more gap than with the stock tires. Overall, I rate the springs at 7/10.

If I had to do it over again, I would definatly stick with the AGX's, but I think I would have gone with the H&R Sport springs because I think 1.5" all around is the PERFECT drop. I went with the Comptech's mainly because I trusted their parts because of their relation with Honda/Acura. Overall I am still happy!

The S100 wax I use gets a 10/10! I love that stuff! Here are some pics for you all...

Thanks for the review, great read.

Eibach springs (pro-kit?) had the same "uneven drop" issues, but if I remember correctly this is just a misperception; the front wheel-well is either larger or has more clearance than the rear, so an even drop will result in visually reducing the rear fender gap more than the fronts.

your car looks great! But just to clarify, on your factory rims, you have a 55 series tire.

The drop is probably even all around. I just looks higher in the front sometimes because the rear wheel wells are lower. If you had 55 size tires, it wouldn't look like it as much.

I plan on keeping the stock GS-R blades. The only thing I would consider trading for is the 94-95 GS-R wheels in mint condition.

Thanks for the review Jay Jay.........I was wondering what this setup would look and ride like (one scenario I am looking at). Thanks for taking the time to take pics and let us know how it turned out.
