alot of people go with the NGK copper tips. no real loss but they just dont last as long. plus they are only a fraction of the cost of the platinum.

Denso Irridiums are good, but they cost $12 a piece. They also come with a huge gap from the factory. Supposedly the tiny electrode can fire with a larger gap, thereby giving a larger spark. However, if you're running with high cylinder pressure, you might want to close the gap a little to prevent misfires (running 15 psi in my Passat turbo I had to close the gap a bit).

Copper conducts electricity better than Ir or Pt, it is not as resistant to corrosion

I put Bosch PT +4 in mine at 48K miles and it jumped my gas mileage up about 50-60 miles per tank of gas.

oh, and one thing to remember. if you ever buy "pre-gapped" plugs, ALWAYS CHECK THE GAP!
