I would just get a new one... I just replaced one on my 91 accord ex.. .and it only cost me like 10 bucks for the housing and a new gasket... and that was from my local NAPA....

yeah they're dirt cheap- perhaps your local salvage yard wouldn't mind one "conveniently disappearing".

thanks just found it at my local kragen and now my question is -

what is the proper way to align the thermostat with the thermostat gasket?? It seems a little thick and that was how I cracked the housing (when I screw down those bolts)...

Should I put the thermostat w/ gasket in the housing first then put on the cover or should I put everything in altogether? I guess I just want to know for sure that it's aligned prior to filling coolant just to find out about a leak...

thanks.
