Default Matching milage on different instrument clusters...?

I broke my fuel level needle on my instrument cluster and am think of getting a used one from a local junkyard... Is there any way that I can match the milage on the two before I put in the new(well, used but working) one?

Yes you can. Just find a place that repairs speedometer and have them adjust the mileage. Just make sure that you bring the defective one and the used one. I had that done on my 91 prelude couple of years ago.

Not sure if you can do that without messing the other gauge. As for the other question, you can look on the yellow pages under speedometer. i found 2 here in Seattle that repairs and re-calibrate speedometers.

How do you switch out the fuel level guage anyways? Is there a site anywhere on the net that I can look at? The Haynes manual doesn't seem to have it and I don't wanna mess up my intrument cluster again.

Is that legal? I have side by side pictures of the two (original and used) clusters to show the milage difference. The used one have like 40,040 miles more than my original. How much did this cost you?

Thanks,

Usually they charge about $10-15 but the guy was nice and never charge me anything since my prelude's odometer wa mechanical not digital. It just took him 5 minutes. As far as legallity goes, yes it is legal as long as you bring the original cluster and have them look at that.
