Help: Whats worng with my car
I was driving yesterday in 4th gear at like 2000 rpm. I went to give it a little gas and my car sort of like choked alittle. I tried agiain and the same thing happened. Then my car all of a sudden shut off. So I pulled over and got it towed. I took off the valve cover becasue I thought the timing belt might have snapped, but it looked fine. My mechanic took a look at it, and he said a common problem with these cars is the ingintion coil. He tood off my distributor cap and sure enough, it was cracked. So he replaced the coil, cap, and rotor and it seemed to be fine. But on the way home it happened again. I was giving it a little gas and it sort of choked out and stalled. So I started it back up and drove it back to my mechanic. He took it for a spin this morning, and it happened to him. He thinks it is a fuel problem, but he couldn't find anything wrong today. My car is going to be sitting at his shop until tuesday when he is doing the t-belt wand water pump. Anyone have any idea of what this can be? THe only thing I did recently to my car is the fields sfc, but I have all the fuel settings at 0. So I dont think that is the problem. Thanks for any help
what year is your teg and how many miles? have you checked your plugs to see if your running rich or lean? have you been going to a gas station that has a lot of traffic, or one that has very little?
hes doin the t-belt and water pump while its in there casue its 8 years old. my car is a 95 gsr with 75 k on it. the belt has cuts on it and doesn't look like its going to last much longer. Better to be safe than sorry. and i havn't checked my plugs. I always fill up at mobil with 93 octane. Could it be my fuel pump?
IMO either shit in the tank has gorped up your fuel filter or the pump itself may be wigging out.
Did you properly install the SFC, so that no wires are shorting out? If bare wires are running through the firewall, over time they will rub, stripping the insulation on the wires.
My 2¢

and always try to go to a gas station that has a lot of people with nice cars(the ones that need 91+ octane) filling up. that way you can be sure you arent getting old gas.
I usually go to the same gas station, and I have never had a problem. I just replace my fuel filter 10k ago, so I don't think that is the problem. And I installed the sfc about a month ago. soldered all the wires, and then put heat shrink tubing around the connections. SO im certain it is installed okay.
try opening the plasic part where your ecu is and giggle the wires around while the car is running and see if it s a loose wire, mine did that before cuz i have the v-afc and one of the wires were moving around and would cause the car to shut off some sensor wire or something.
Well I just got my car back and it turns out that it was my fields sfc that crapped out on me. Ive had that thing in there for less than a month. So im going to take the safe route and just get an apexi vafc, and throw it in my glove box. Has anyone else had any bacd luck with the fields?
