Default How to Change Oil on 1995 Acura Integra Special Edition?

Hi All,

I've changed oil before on my Mitsubishi Eclipse, but never on my Acura Integra. I was wondering if someone had detailed pictures of how to change the oil.

I haven't put my car up on the jack yet to figure out how hard/accessible the oil fiter/plug is. Is it relatively easy to get to? Or are special tools required?

Thanks in advance!

Not much different than any other car. Drain plug is on the pan just like any other. Filter is on the backside of the block, kinda hard to reach up there without burning yourself on the exhaust pipe. A normal filter strap wrench works OK.

Don't crawl under there with just a jack. Use ramps. Blood makes such a mess on the underside of a nice car.

Thanks for the tips. Do you know where I can find pictures of where the filter and pan are located on the underneath of the engine?

I meant to say put the car on the ramp. I have ramps... I don't trust the jacks either.

i have been using the OEM filters. before that i have been using fram filters. im going OEM from now on. just because i *heard not so great things about the FRAMs. and they are in the same price range.

the OEM filters are about $6-7.

I run Castrol GTX 5W-30 and FRAM Xtra Guard Filters. I also swap out the gasket on the drain plug with every oil change. No leaks.

And yeah, the filter is a bish to get off without spilling old oil. I really screwed up on my first swap, spent about 20 mins wiping up the oil off of the backside of the engine block. So have some shop rags ready.

And for what it's worth, buy a Haynes Manual at least. Please.

Look around, there's oil filter reviews out there: http://www.ntpog.org/reviews/filters/filters.shtml I'm using an oversized Wix (Napa Gold) 51344, and am happy with it. However, I'm only using that one, as I've been unable to find a Mobil 1, STP, or Bosch filter in Canada.

I've heard that the OEM filters that are made in Canada are Fram. Look for OEM made in USA or others like Pure One, etc...

I've also heard some no-good things about Fram, but I've been using them for many years with no troubles. But I switched to OEM anyway, I got a bunch from Manchester - they were made in USA & cheaper than $6-7...

Evilteg...
My ramps work ok, but it's not lowered. What I meant was DON'T use a regular jack if you're gonna get underneath.
