Default 99 Civic EX outboard brake light inop

99 EX left outboard brake light inop

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Howdy all. As the title says, my left outboard brake light is inop. Filaments in bulb are ok, and the parking light in this assembly works ok. New bulb no fix. Other 3 brake lights and high mount brake light work ok, turn signal works ok, so doubt it's the fuse or brake pedal switch at fault.

How do I go about tracing this problem?

I've never monkeyed around with a meter to chase elec problems before, so detailed instructions would be a huge help!

Thanks

Mike

Actually, many Honda do use a different fuse for left and right lights. I would quickly check [B]all [B]the fuses for an open. If the fuses check out I'd look at the socket itself for any corrosion inside. If that's OK check that the ground is solid and corrision free.

Is this a salvage title car by any chance? I see lots of electrical issues with salvage title cars.

buy test llight and look for power at the terminal where your bulb goes in. other problems are bad connector, rusted terminals. etc.
