Default Is the Base RSX a good candidate for turbo?

Is the base RSX engine, K20A3, a good candidate for boost? Of course, I mean very modest boost (6-8lbs). I wonder if the K20A3 as good at handling boost as the old "B" series engines in the Integras? By "good" I mean realiable/durable for the long term daily commuter.
I wonder how that plastic intake manifold is going to like the extra heat of a turbo,, Will I hear it scream "I'm melting!" :naughty:

Thanks,
Tony

Actually with its 8:1 compression ratio it would be easier to turbo than a type S. Just be careful of the boost without going into the internals. Replace the intake though I'm not sure that it will deliver enough fuel for the turbo application.

I would rather turbo a base model than a type's because of the compression. I don't know how the crank to rod ratio is though. I don't think it would be anydifferent. There is a turbo rsx in the may 02 issue of super street but I am not sure if it was a base or not. I think it was eternal blue though, and if it is then it would be a base.

u'll need to do internals first,

after that and turbo, ur looking at 10,000 or so

better idea: K20A swap
220 hp
6 speed
LSD
Type R ECU

Yeah. I've been looking into doing a turbo or super charging setup with my base RSX and the prices of kits are insane. I think the only economical way to go would be some kind of junkyard pull from a different model and then custom fitting to the RSX. Lots of work and it might not even be right when it's done. Hmm...

Theres not a lot out there right now as far as f/i goes but there is a few. Cybernations turbo kits are good and they have a few that are not too bad in price. Rev Hard Racing also has a kit that goes from Stage 1 to Stage 4: 450whp! Turboing your base is the smarter way to go, start out with the turbo first, low psi. When you save up monay you can rework internals.

I'm sure you'll be a lot happier with the end product than a Honda Integra Type R swap.
