Gun Crew - scope suggestion
I got a Ruger 10/22 stainless steel with synthetic stock. It's a nice gun. Having a lot of fun shooting it. Put about 200-230 rounds through it so far.
At 100 yards, it's really hard to see specific spots on the target as the sights pretty much cover the whole target. I want to see how far and accurate I can get with it, so I need a scope.
3-9x40 seems to be common, so I'll probably go with something in that range. Well, I should say that 3-9x40 is probably the least I'm looking for. If something has more zoom and a bigger objective, I won't complain. A bigger objective would be nice, for later in the day shooting.
Something like this seems pretty nice: http://www.shopbarska.com/Hunting_Sc...PRO_SCOPE.html
And for $80, I might be able to swing that. I like the illumination too, that will help in low light conditions. During the winter, it's very easy for it to get pitch black out by 6 or 7pm. So when I get out of work, I don't have much light to work with but still want to shoot.
That's the top end though, I was really hoping to try and stay under $60.
Oh, I'd like it in silver, but that really limits my options. So I'll probably go with just a black.
I've read that having a 1" tube provides better picture. Yes/no? (I would assume that bigger = better when it comes to image quality/clarity, but what's a minimum I should stay above?)
Anyone have anything good or bad about Barska? Other suggestions?

I have two Mueller APVs I bought from this guy. He's in AK but I got both of them (separate orders) within a week.

i'll say it again ... find a decent 4x scope and be done. it's a .22 at 100 yards you are pushing the guns limits for a beginner / average user and 4x is more than enough for a .22
and i wish $80 = top end scope :hs:
i paid $350 for the redfield on my .270 and its middle of the road, the one for my AR was $500 and that was a steal. if you step down to a 4x you can pick something up in the 60-80 range thats way better glass than any $50 3-9 or 3-12 is going to be. just my 2 cents

The radioactive tritium light source has to be replaced every 8–12 years, since it gradually loses its brightness due to radioactive decay.

i personally dont find the light provided by the tritium bright enough as it is
.22lr at 100 yds starts to get tricky. at the point you're looking at finding the ammo that your gun is abolutely constistant in. and braska...boo. get something nicer. the difference at 100yd with a cheap scope and even midlevel is dramatic. I would spend at the very least double that...especially for 100yds.
