I got a Ruger 10/22 stainless steel with synthetic stock. It's a nice gun. Having a lot of fun shooting it. Put about 200-230 rounds through it so far.
At 100 yards, it's really hard to see specific spots on the target as the sights pretty much cover the whole target. I want to see how far and accurate I can get with it, so I need a scope.
3-9x40 seems to be common, so I'll probably go with something in that range. Well, I should say that 3-9x40 is probably the least I'm looking for. If something has more zoom and a bigger objective, I won't complain. A bigger objective would be nice, for later in the day shooting.
Something like this seems pretty nice:

And for $80, I might be able to swing that. I like the illumination too, that will help in low light conditions. During the winter, it's very easy for it to get pitch black out by 6 or 7pm. So when I get out of work, I don't have much light to work with but still want to shoot.
That's the top end though, I was really hoping to try and stay under $60.
Oh, I'd like it in silver, but that really limits my options. So I'll probably go with just a black.
I've read that having a 1" tube provides better picture. Yes/no? (I would assume that bigger = better when it comes to image quality/clarity, but what's a minimum I should stay above?)
Anyone have anything good or bad about Barska? Other suggestions?
