Default Throttle Body?

Hey Guys-
Have any of you had this problem? When you step on the throttle, your RPMs shoot up then drop drop back down to normal? Almost like you still have your foot on the clutch. I notice this when I am in a lower gear (mainly 3rd and 4th). Do you think it could have something to do with the throttle body or throttle cable? I want to take it into the shop but I don't want to pay for something that I can do for free. BTW, I drive a '97 Prelude with 92k (if that helps). Thanks!

Sounds like your clutch may be slipping a little bit.

Yep, that sounds like the sign of a slipping clutch. Mine did the same thing before I replaced it.

Thanks for the responses. That's funny that you mention the clutch. I just had the clutch, along with master and slave cylinders, replaced about 2 weeks ago. I also had the flywheel resurfaced. I went to Pep-Boys to get it done, I guess that was a mistake. Should I just take it back into the shop and have them fix it? The thing is that it happens so sporadically and I'm afraid to test the engine for it again. Come to think of it, with the money I spent, I could've just bought that Centerforce clutch and Fidanza flywheel I wanted and maybe I could have avoided this whole problem. But P.B. gave me a great deal and dropping that tranny and doing the install would have been pretty difficult! BTW, does anyone know if some shops do payment plans? (I.E. Turbo Kits). Peace.
