window tint laws, the link to hopefully save you
yes i just got pulled over today for window tint. i just received a $95 ticket for my LEGAL windows! the erie cop told me that i could get $100 per window 1st offense & $570 second offense 
!!!!! so i started pulling off the front window tint & then called the guy who tinted my car for the heck of it. he said to search the web because there is NO law specifically stating window tint levels! well i just found some interesting info on this site. i'm heading over to argue w/ the state tomorrow w/ this in hand. the law ONLY states that a person must be able to see inside of the vehicle while standing next to it....hmmmm.....
i'll let u know how it goes tomorrow.

luckily for MD residents, we don't have to get yearly inspections, just for when you're purchasing a car. a friend of mine is registering a car from NY to MD and has 30% tint. Has to get it removed to pass MD inspection.

In Cali we don't have inspections either. They just pop your hood, connect ****, and run your car.
Its just insanely strict to pass smog, but they dont care what kind of tint you have.
However, in California ANY tint on the side windows (front) is illegal... but again we dont have inspections
HEre on the east coast we have inspections, and less strict smog rules...

sorry 90'rs, but that isn't official either even though that's what they give u @ the cop station. so i went down today & they basically said i would have to either talk to the cop who gave me the ticket, or face a district justice to get anywhere. now reading my 1st link i don't think i'm going to fight it, i don't have extra $ to pay a lawyer. i work w/ one & he said it was pretty much useless to fight them. THE LOCAL IS ABOVE THE STATE ACCORDING TO THE ERIE CITY POLICE! they can be much more strict than state or federal.
well i say that sux, so :madfawk: to all city's who are hating on tint! do i have something to hide? yeah, alot of da*m $ sitting in stereo gear from theves!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE WRITE YOUR STATE REP & HAVE THEM CHANGE LAWS, IT'S THE ONLY WAY TO GET ANYTHING DONE.
