rebuild or buy one???
i have this custom turbo kit on my 92 gsr, not sure what kind of exhuse manifold is it. the turbo is made by airreserch, the bad news is, the turbo is burnning oil. i think it worn out the seal. rebuild it will cost around $300, so i am thinking buy one if i can find a good deal. i am looking around on ebay, i found there are so many turbochargers avaliable, but the question is: will the new on fit on the manifold and down pipe? what kind should i get? help please.
A professional rebiuld usually runs about $250. A new T3/T04E costs $550. If your manifold is flanged for a T3, I would just get a new T3/To4E and have your downpipe converted to a 4-bolt flange. Depending on what manifold you have, there may be cleanrance issues with a 4-bolt discharge T3/T04E. Most people have to grind some of th block webbing arounf the bell housing. Or, if you don't have A/C, just put the compressor on the driver side. It'll be easier to make a new downpipe that way also.
thanks, i am going to rebuild it. i did grind some of my block when i put the turbo on, and it's pain in the ass to fit a/c fan on the radiaor, i got one from fluidyne for civic, which is smaller, hopefully it solve the problem. thanks again for your opinions.
