SO i just got done with a conference call v.job offer
I'm in this saturday morning conference call with the owners of MOOG louisville and the owner of Metro parts in southern cal ... they are shareholders of the national buying group the company i work for is a member of as well
and we are going over a presentation they are presented at the national shareholders conference in colorado next weekend i'm building for them
the guy from Metro is suddenly like ya know jesse ... we got lots of room out in cali at Metro for some new talent
and the chicago sales director for our company who is on the meeting with us is instantly like "oh he's not for sale, he's buyin his first home in michigan now anyways"
i was like :doh: who says im not for sale

it's surprising how often this happens ... other members see my shit and they are like you should come do stuff for us and someone above me always like he not for sale ... wtf i am too, or you can just pay me more and i wont be h:
last month another part of the company asked the big boss if they could have me ... to go work in detroit. he said no way in hell which in that case would have bee nmy response as well. fuck detroit

I completely agree with Dave. You aren't your bosses' property; use this situation to your advantage.
That being said, realize that LA will be a major re-adjustment for you.
No 100 acre backyards, no $800 / mo rent either.
As an example, I pay nearly twice that much for about 1000 sqft and secured parking in a decent part of town.
