My 96 accord lx has an odd metallic sound coming from near the belts...its hard for me to recognize exactly where its coming from...anyone have any nuggets of wisdom?

 

you still searching for this? If it is the same as mine, it almost sounds like a metallic ping pong ball is being tapped. Comes from the same location. car doesn't have to be moving...

Mine happens more and more. Enough so that I could probably diagnose. If this sounds like your problem I will investigate and update.

 

Mine turned out to be the a/c compressor clutch...it only occurred when the a/c button was pressed. I had it replaced and now I'm good to go!
