Hey guess, ive had a problem with my fan not cutting on, causing the car to run hot when standing still. First i ran a jumper wire to check the fan itself and it was fine. the fuse and relay appear to be fine so i did a continuity check on the switch which is right by the thermostat. It failed the test so now im wondering where do i find another switch? Does anybody have one? I need for a B series... thanks

 

There isn't a thermo-electric switch in the radiator itself?

Normally they don't have continuity unless the water is hot enough also.

 

You can get the Spoon thermoswitch that switches the fan on at like 80 degrees C for like $75.

The OEM thermoswitch opens turns the fan on at 100 degrees C. You can get one for $24.64-32.87:

 

ok... just wondering... if #11 is the thermo switch, whats #12??

 

Looks like a temperature probe to me...

 

12 is the temp sensor for the temp gauge in the dash, I believe.

 

On my car, #10 is the dash temp controller, #11 along with another sender in the radiator controll the fan, and I never could figure out exactly what #12 controlled, so it got removed so that I could add a mechanical water temp gauge.

 

yea... i have a gen1 b16a, and i dont have a fitting for a thermoswitch on the thermostat housing (#11)... and i think #10 is for the dash guage.... would it be ok to put the theroswitch where #12 is? or should i buy a new lower pipe spout with the housing in it??

 

ok... well from the wiring diagram, i think #12 is for the thermo switch for the a/c system. since i took out the a/c, im just gonna plug in the thermo switch there

 

im having a similar problem with my b18c. I installed a new aluminum dual radiator, plugged my old fan on to it and it never kicks on. Never. I don't know what it could be exactly causing the overheating. I know for sure there isn't a leak. Also, I just replaced the thermostat the same time I replaced the radiator. How do you go about checking continuity and exactly where is this switch that you keep talking about. Anyone have a real picture of it in their car? thanks for the extra help. I need to get the car down the street but can't.
