Default Selling my car?

Well it has come to my attention that I don't need such a car and the payment is steep and the insurance is high-ish.

Do you think that carmax will give me the best offer on my car? Do they have good used cars? I can't just buy a cheap car...I do have to finance because I don't have a large sum of money set aside.

Help.

I am guessing a dealership will give me nothing near what carmax will give...or will they?

Should I get my appraisal from carmax then go to dealears or what?

BTW. I will be upside down on the car an unknown amount.

I'd go to Carmax then go to dealers as you suggested. What car would you replace it with?

I think carmax will be out to get you also

One thing you have to understand is carmax and the dealership are out to make money
Which means screwing you over on your trade in.

Are you upside down really bad?

You could try to sale it privately then put the additional amount on a creditcard (if it's not to much)

Def do private listing first...then explore other options. Is there a set date you need to get rid of her by? If not, list her up.

my friend sold his e39 540i to carmax. it was in excellent condition (i made sure of it and polished and maintained the paint interior, under hood etc for him). it also had low miles about 38K miles.

carmax basically gave him good condition price (about 800 short) for a car that was in excellent condition. carmax is also a car dealer. don't expect miracles. if you're upside down on your loan... good luck.

I don't have $4k to throw at a car.

I think the best idea was sell it private party, and then figure out the remainder on a CC or something.
