Having serious issues, please help!!
I have a 89 Civic hatchback with a d16y7 motor from a 97. It ran for awhile but has since died. My plugs are not firing. No honda tech has been able to figure this out. The ECU is the original PM6 for the 88-91. Does my ECU need to match the engine or the year of the car being that I don't know which sensors, etc. that I have? The motor is an OBD2 and the ECU is a OBD0. Could it be my ECU has just died or did it just get tired of being rigged to the wrong motor. Please help. -Thanks.
Is there power going to the coil?
They are common to dying and its unlikely it would go for a while then stop.
When i did my engine conversion it wouldnt start, i was well confused as everything appeared right. I changed the coil and all was good.

I'm assuming you used the stock Si engine harness and injectors. What distributor did you use? Still the pm6 fromt he d16a6? Take off the distributor cap and check for power going to the coil with the key on. If you have power there, check power at the ignitor. There is a good write up on testing it on either Haynes or Chilton... The factory service manual is junk for that.
Did you do the swap? Check the ground on the thermostat housing?

I didn't do the swap, so I really don't know what is 89 and what is 97. I did buy a new coil, plugs, cap, and rotor from Salem Honda to fix a hesitation problem when accelerating. I have the old distributor and ECU. It has been determined from Wilsonville Honda that it is not the main relay or the ignitor in the distributor. The motor turns over, just wont fire.
