This turbo with those pistons?
Hey would it be cool to use a T3/T4 turbo + any high compresion pistons? I meen is there a certan boost level you cant exceed or is it just an all around stupid idea?
My frend is a certified mechanic, he seems to think it would be cool as long as you have TUFF ASS rings and you dont exceed like 14psi or something (his words "as long as you dont overdo it!")

Certified mechanics don't know much about building motors and running boost in my experiences.....

there is a type-r engined civic here in houston running 8psi on stock internals....its making 285 hp.
higher compression means less room for erros int uning, but it also means faster spool up and and better off boost power....

It all depends on how much boost you want to run. Yes, a Type-R motor will handle 8 psi for a relatively reasonable amount of time. But if you really want to crank up the boost the high compression ratio of that motor is going to cause way too much detonation to be practical without race gas, retarded ignition timing, colder plugs, a rich mixture or any other combination of that crap.
How much does a typical Type-R swap cost? Like $4500 or more? With that kind of money you could take an LS motor and build it up to make more off-boost power than the Type-R motor (and since off-boost is at low RPM a VTEC motor wouldn't even really shine in this department) and take a helluva lot more of a beating than the Type-R motor, plus have enough money to put a limited slip diff in the tranny.
Back to the original question, T3/T4 is just a general classification of the housing size. It says nothing about how much the turbo is going to flow and at what level of efficiency. If you have a particular motor and power level in mind you can go from there to figure out how much boost and what kind trim of turbo to run.

Well, I was lookin at the T3/T4 at www.automotosports.com Its like $750 or so? I thought that was a good deal? I am going to get a motor swap goin on soon! I dont know quite yet what Im gonna thow in my 90 DX, But I want it to work well with FI... I was thinkin probably a B16A1 from japan so I wont have to deal with OBD crap
